The Moselle wine-growing region is Germany's oldest wine-growing region, where Celts and Romans planted vines and pressed wine 2000 years ago. Even if we simply call it the Moselle today, our region stretches across three rivers that are characteristic for viticulture: Moselle, Saar and Ruwer.
The Moselle region is the largest steep-slope area in the world - the cradle of single vineyard sites. Our vineyards are mainly located on the steep slopes of the three river valleys, which are densely planted with vines. These steep slopes make our home a breathtakingly beautiful landscape. They determine our life and our work. They are our motivation. They make it possible to produce top wines with personality and stature from Riesling and Pinot Noir. Every winery has its sites in mind and evaluates them qualitatively.
Our winegrowers know that they also owe this distinctiveness to the soils. The different slate formations on the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer, which sometimes make our work more difficult, are the quintessence of wines with a strong character. The fact that this requires a high degree of natural manual labor doesn't bother us much, because without it everything is nothing. We are happy to accept the greater effort.
