Wine estate Goerg

The wines of our estate come from the villages of Neumagen, Dhron and Piesport. We have been making wine for many generations as a family business and for the last 145 years under the name of Goerg. My great-great-grandfather came as a teacher to the village of Neumagen and in 1855 married Margarethe Wintrich, a winegrower’s daughter. Our vineyards are planted with over 90% Riesling, the rest divided between Müller-Thurgau and Spätburgunder, enabling us since last year to offer a little red wine too. But our special forte will always be Riesling from the world-famous sites Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Piesporter Domherr, Neumagener Engelgrube, Neumagener Rosengärtchen and Dhroner Hofberger. Together with traditional and careful vinification in the cellar these vineyards will always guarantee fruity and pleasant wines with a diversity that only the Riesling grape is capable of. We produce only single site wines from our own holdings in these world-famous vineyards and never blend with other varieties.

Various honours and awards have been bestowed upon our wines at competitions and by the media, bearing witness to our quest for quality. We have also gained recognition for providing excellent value for money, but our greatest reward is the loyalty of our customers.

The street festival of Neumagen-Dhron takes place at the end of September. In Neumagen-Dhron visitors can enjoy a particular highlight, a river trip on a replica of the original Roman river boat “Stella Noviomagi”. Visitors keen on sport or history will find a comprehensive choice of interesting tracks for cycling or walking (among others: Römersteig, Klettersteig, Thörnischer Ritsch, Moselschleife, Mosel cycle track), as well as cultural relics (Hinkelstein, Roman sarcophagus, old ferry towers, old station, Roman grape press).
