With a fascinating variety of aromas, from lively citrus notes to subtle mineral nuances, and the unique ability to master the fine balance between sweetness and acidity, Riesling is a grape variety that captivates wine lovers: inside all over the world.

The heat-retaining slate soils of the south-facing steep slopes along the Moselle offer optimal conditions for this broad spectrum of Riesling aromas. From mineral freshness to fine fruity elegance, due to the long vegetation period of the grape variety, the wines reflect the terroir of the sites like hardly any other grape variety.

We appreciate the potential of the Riesling grape to produce both mineral-dry, off-dry top wines as well as fruity Kabinett and Spätlese wines or noble sweet Auslese, Beerenauslese and ice wines with a relatively low alcohol content.

The characteristic minerality of Riesling and the abundance of aromas and fragrances of the wines transport you into a multifaceted world, characterized by herbs, flowers and fruits such as apple, pear, peach, apricot, mango and passion fruit. Subtle nuances of raisins and honey can also be found in our noble sweet wines, which are ideal as dessert wines.

Thanks to its impressive diversity, Mosel Riesling is once again enjoying great popularity and is appreciated worldwide. This renaissance is reminiscent of the heyday around 1900, when Mosel Riesling was so sought-after that it fetched prices many times higher than Bordeaux wines and was served at festivities in all European royal houses.

Steep-slope Riesling wines from the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer are suitable for longer cellaring. So if you have a need for an older vintage (e.g. as a special, personal gift for birthdays or anniversaries), please contact our winegrowers, they will be happy to search for rarities in their vaults for you.
