There is probably something simpler than taking over a family winery on the Moselle. But just like the vines in the steep slopes, I am deeply rooted in my homeland. Vintners who work on steep slopes are heroes, as my grandfather said. And when I stand on the steep slope of Niederberg Helden, I feel exactly that: namely pride.

The world around us is changing, but the Moselle and its slopes are not changing so fast. Our family lives this stability for decades. If you take a closer look at the labels of our bottles, obliquely from the side, you can see the profiles of three generations. That of my grandfather, my father and mine. All three distinctive, just like our homeland, like our wines.

With each vintage Axel Pauly from Lieser, Mosel, continues to sharpen his profile. He has already bottled some really excellent wines with terroir character. Exciting operation.

The Mosel-Barbarossa: As powerful and rustic as Pauly himself, his wines are so fine and elegant.
