Passion, know-how and craftsmanship are the foundation on which our estate has been built, managed, developed and will be passed on to the next generation. We own only vineyards at famous sites: At the Graacher Himmelreich, Graacher Domprobst and Bernkasteler Bratenhöfchen, but above all the Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Their special exposition as well as their mineral, heat-accumulating Devonian slate are fundamentally important for the high cultural appreciation received by the complex Riesling vine. But just owning a top site is not enough. Appropriate pruning, high quality of grapes and the exceptional aging ability of the vines all have to come togetherto get to the pinnacle of winegrowing culture.
Eichelmann, 4 stars
„The latest collection is even better, whether it be dry or sweet, beginning with a convincing range of estate wines. The Blauschiefer Riesling (from the blue slate) is fresh and pure, gripping stuff, as is the Kabinett.“
Gault Millau 2013
„But our favourite is the fruity Spätlese from the Sonnenuhr with its tender body and seductive fragrance of ripe apricots.“
Highlights
A particular attraction is the listed art nouveau building located directly on the bank of the Mosel, next to the boat mooring post. For visitors with an interest in events there are many options, such as the wine culture week from Ascension day to Whitsun or we can provide you with a venue for weddings, birthday parties or company celebrations. The Wehlener Obst-Artweg (orchard and art trail) is a particular treat for dedicated walkers.
We are particularly proud that our daughter Marie-Luise Kerpen was elected Mosel wine princess for the season of 2012/2013.
