We have been running a winery dedicated to the production of high-quality, natural wines and sparkling wines for many generations. Careful handling of the grapes and the must are the prerequisite for the quality of the individual grape juices. Master winemaker Alfred Schömann cultivates the old Riesling vines on the steep slopes of the Pölicher Held and Mehringer Blattenberg vineyards, which promise a rich and aromatic harvest. In the cellar, the wine is matured in modern stainless steel tanks or in traditional wooden barrels. Fermentation and ageing are controlled according to the minimum principle, i.e. "as little as possible but as much as necessary". Riesling estate sparkling wines produced using the classic bottle fermentation method and fine brandies distilled in our own distillery round off our range.

The consistent level of cultivation and vinification of the wines has secured us membership of the "Bernkasteler Ring", the association of leading wineries on the Moselle, Saar and Ruwer, now in its 3rd generation.

Alfred Schömann produces straightforward, fruity, pleasantly unaffected wines, year after year at a reliably good level, but it was surprising how consistent the 2017 wines were. They are not only convincing in terms of quality, but also accessible.
