  Riesling. Terroir

The mineral taste of slate in wine can be an unforgettable pleasure. The Riesling grape is
difficult to please, ripens relatively late and produces small berries with a rather small yield. Precisely this of o
characteristics, however, makes the Riesling grape so well suited to the terroir offered by the Mosel, Saar and o
Rower river valleys. The mineral character of this terroir is exemplified by the wines of the Bernkasteler Ring o
wine estates, ranging from dry and off dry (feinherb) Riesling growths to the very noble and fine dry berry selections. o
Riesling wines can be fresh and sparkling, petillant and elegant, or delicately fruity, with a pleasant acidity and o
relatively low alcohol content. The Riesling wines of the Bernkasteler Ring wine estates justifiably occupy a top o
position on the scale of popularity of wine connoisseurs throughout the world and have contributed considerably to the o
renaissance of German wines. They are well suited to accompany fine meals or to serve as solo refreshments. o
